I started in the field. Infantry, then commercial glass, then putting up prefabricated steel buildings until I was running a crew. Work where the margins are real and nobody has time for software that doesn't pull its weight. Then I went back to school for information systems and spent the next twenty years moving from the work itself into the systems that run it.
I have been building those systems inside organizations since 2009. In 2009 I project managed the system that tracked mobilization readiness for a state military department, covering about twelve hundred soldiers. Before it, the numbers were charted by hand on paper, keyed into spreadsheets, consolidated into more spreadsheets, formatted, then uploaded to the Department of Defense. Four passes through human hands before anyone could answer one simple question: is this unit ready. We put scanners on the front of it so task completion recorded itself and the checklists filled themselves.
That is the same job I do now. The tools changed. The problem did not. After the Army I spent years inside a publicly traded industrial manufacturer, selling engineered vessels and tanks, and along the way I ran the rollouts of Dynamics, Salesforce, and Microsoft 365 across the sales side of the business.
I still spend my days inside a manufacturer. That is where most of what I know about operations came from, and it is why I build systems that keep running when nobody is watching them.
Here's what I learned in the field: most businesses aren't broken. Their workflows are. Leads sit. Follow-ups get forgotten. The owner carries the whole operation in his head, and it's costing him nights, weekends, and years.
I build the system that carries it instead. Handoffs, approvals, status, reporting, and the lead response that feeds them: connected, automatic, visible. Not another tool. A rhythm your business runs on.
I'm an endurance runner. I build the way I train: define the finish line, map the route backwards, and do the unglamorous work every day until it holds. No shortcuts, no hype, no 48-hour miracles. Systems built for the long run.
